Doug welcomes Libby Buck and Seth Engelbourg from the Linda Loring Nature Foundation to the studio for a lively conversation about all things nature on Nantucket. Libby and Seth share insights into their roles at LLNF and highlight an exciting lineup of spring programming. From the return of Osprey Watch and the brand-new Feeder Watch project to a special "Science Pub" bird banding talk with Libby herself, there’s something for every nature lover.

Doug Risher sits down with Libby Buck of the Linda Loring Nature Foundation and Yvonne Vaillancourt, Director of UMass Boston’s Nantucket Field Station, to discuss the upcoming 2024 Nantucket Christmas Bird Count. Taking place on Sunday, December 29, the event is seeking volunteers to help with this annual tradition. Those interested in participating are encouraged to sign up by December 20 by emailing nantucketbirdcount@gmail.com or calling the LLNF office.

Doug is joined in studio by Libby Buck, Conservation Science and Land Steward for the Linda Loring Nature Foundation, to discuss the fascinating world of bird banding on Nantucket. Libby explains how this crucial program helps gather invaluable data on migratory birds, including details about their weight, age, and other key metrics that aid in conservation efforts. She also shares how the public can get involved and experience the process firsthand. Bird banding sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the fall.
