Kids in Nature Workshops
We offer fun classes for ages 6 to 10 focusing on a wide variety of science and nature topics! See our brochure and class descriptions for more information!
Offered weekly on Wednesday mornings at 8AM from May to October. LLNF leads participants to birding hotspots around the island and help them learn about the birds they see!
Offered every Friday at 10AM during the summer. Explore the unique habitats of the LLNF property, discover our flora and fauna, and see what's in season as you walk along our gently rolling trail.
This is a family program. Kids are welcome but we require them to be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. In this fun class we'll look for snakes and learn more about the on-going research we undergo to study the different species found at our property. Tuesdays at 2:30 PM during July and August.
Explore the bounty of nature through a series of hands-on, botanically focused workshops with the LLNF staff. In each class, participants will learn about the plants that inhabit Nantucket and their use in food, art, and culture. Lessons will be sensory in nature; including tastings, demonstrations, and crafts using locally sourced ingredients. Sign up for one class or the whole series. This program is not intended for participants under the age of 18. Selected Mondays in the summer.
Join Peter Brace, a local hiking guide, naturalist, and environmental writer for a tour of our property along with LLNF staff. We'll discuss the geologic and ecological history of the site. Thursdays at 1:30 PM during the summer.
